I Mustache You Some Questions

I was recently tagged by Elsie over at her lovely blog, Sharing Healthiness to complete a survey.  This has been a popular questionairre going around lately in the blogging world so I was thrilled to join in on the fun. Thank you so much, Elsie!

Feel free to play along and answer some of these questions yourself in the comments!
Mustache you Some Questions Survey, Bentonville AR, Dark Chocolate Avocado Truffles, I hate cilantro
Four names that people call me (other than my real name):
  • Nilyak -- My father originally gave me this name as a child. It's my name spelled backwards. Catchy, right?
  • Kayleno -- Inspired by Jay Leno, a friend of mine started calling me this in junior high.
  • Honey -- Commonly called this name either by my boyfriend, my mother, or another random nice Southern person.
  • Kaitlyn (or any other form of the name) -- This usually happens when people don't understand my name is Kaylin, NOT Kaitlyn.  I commonly have to introduce myself as "Hi, my name is Kaylin!  It's like 'Kaitlyn', but without the 'T'".

Four jobs I have had:
  • Customer Service Rep. at Rue 21
  • Tutor in college for student athletes
  • Breakfast attendant at Doubletree Hotel
  • Social Media Asst. for a local Artist Retreat Center

*Also currently job searching for my "big girl" career since graduating college last December....Oh the wonderful joys of what seems to be the never endless job-searching*

Four movies I would have watched more than once:
  • Fast and the Furious (I am a huge fan of the whole series)
  • Tangled (one of my favorite Disney movies)
  • Little Miss Sunshine
  • National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (probably my favorite Christmas movie of all time)

Four books I’d recommend:
  • Yes, Chef: A Memoir by Marcus Sammelsson by Marcus Sammelsson (the famous chef)
  • Men are Like Wine by Anne Violette (this book was a lifesaver guide for me to better understand wines)
  • The Selection Series
  • How to Kill a Mockingbird

Three places I have lived:
  • Bentonville, AR
  • Bella Vista, AR
  • Fayetteville, AR (while in dorms for college)
Proud of my home state!

Also proud to say I made this myself.
Four places I have been:
  • Riviera Maya, Mexico
  • Destin, FL
  • Kansas City, MO
  • New Orleans, LA

Wade and I on our vacation to New Orleans
Four places I’d rather be right now:
  • On a beach sipping a strawberry daiquiri
  • Costa Rica
  • ANYWHERE WARMER THAN HERE (I'm having a hard time accepting Winter)
  • Hanging out with Wade

Four things I don’t eat:
  • Mayonnaise
  • Cilantro (get that stuff out of my guacamole! *I'm looking at you, Chipotle*)
  • Cantaloupe
  • Rice (it's a texture thing)

Four of my favorite foods:
  • Pies
  • Dark Chocolate
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Seafood (in particular, salmon and crab)

This is one of my favorite recipes featured on my blog--dark chocolate avocado truffles
Four TV shows that I watch:
  • Scandal
  • How to Get Away with Murder
  • House, MD (Still one of the best TV shows ever, in my opinion)
  • Everybody Loves Raymond (I can watch reruns ALL the time)

Four things I am looking forward to this year:
  • Thanksgiving dinner and Friendsgiving dinners
  • First trip to Austin, TX with Wade for New Year's!
  • The Christmas movie marathons on television
  • Having excuses to bake up massive amounts of candies, cookies, and sweet treats for Christmas festivities

Four things I’m always saying:
  • "Know what I mean?"
  • "Definitely" (I definitely use this one WAY too much)
  • "That's ridiculous!"
  • "I want to get up and move" (I hate sitting for too long)

Four people I tag to take the survey:
  • Heather (Housewife Glamour)
  • Brittney (Razorback Britt)
  • Lauren (I had a big lunch)
  • Erin (The Spiffy Cookie)

I love this survey! Seafood and sweet potatoes are some of my favorite foods too :) And I don't say "definitely" a lot but I say "totally" alllll the time haha. I've never thought of reading a chef's memoir but I bet they're incredibly interesting. Chefs have some of the richest life stories!

Ha! I used to say "totally" a lot too. Apparantly it morphed into "definitely". The Yes, Chef book is SO GOOD! For foodies and non-foodies alike. You probably would recognize the famous Chef Samuel who it's about. He's on Food Network a lot.

P.S. I too graduated last December and have been trying to find a job since. It's a rough time! Good luck to us both.

OMG finally someone who understands my cilantro aversion- GROSS! As much as I adore Mexican food, I'm always skeptical to eat it out- hate when the otherwise delicious salsa & guac has bits of cilantro floating around!!!

Cilantro is a very evasive and strong flavor that I've heard of other people absolutely hating as well! That's why I just think it's rude to add it to so many dishes at restaurants...and it's in ALL 3 of the Chipotle restaurant salsas AND the guacamole. So I can't win. But I feel your pain!

This was a really fun survey! I did it for my blog last week. I forgot about Little Miss Sunshine. Such a cute movie.

Hey, thanks for visiting Lauren! I fell in love with Little Miss Sunshine the first time I saw it and have rewatched it a billion times since. The story is so darn cute.

Hi Kaylin, Okay Kayleno is a funny nickname. And I don't think I've ever heard of someone not eating rice. hehehe. Love these surveys! Have a great weekend:)

Ha! Glad you like the Kay Leno. I didn't even know what to think when my buddy first gave me that nickname. It caught on and I like it now though. :) I know I'm THAT weird girl who doesn't like rice. The texture just gets to me. If I was starving I could eat it, but I prefer not to. You have a fabulous weekend as well!

I actually don't have a nickname that people call me! I hate when people shorten Kristy to "Kris" so people know not to call me that and the only other name I've ever been called is KISS (my initials) by one uncle - which is now KISS-J (my married name) but it's only him that calls me that! Haha

I've realised that I say "no worries" waaaay too much - even when I shouldn't say it or there's no reason to it seems to be my automatic response haha

Your initials are KISS? That's kinda awesome! No worries is something I say often. That or "no problem". Hey, at least we are agreeable people then, perhaps? :)

It is so great getting to know you more!!!! I definitely definitely use that word too much too! ;) I am glad to know someone else can't stand cilantro. It seriously ruins my food!
Strawberry daiquiris! I am in!!

Thank you for tagging me again, Elsie! Definitely am guilty of using definitely far too much. Cilantro, oh the evil cilantro! At least somebody else is on the cilantro-haters team. Woot! Strawberry daiquiris for the win!

OOOO You're one of THOSE who do not like cilantro!!! I wish I could taste what you taste when you eat it, because I actually am curious!! I hear it tastes like soap?

Ha! I think it's funny that you're so fascinated. It really has a STRONG (I mean Hulk level Strong!) bitter and soap-like taste to it for me. Hence, if it's in any dish, I WILL taste it.

I love posts like these :)
True story, I just introduce myself as Kat now, even though my name is Kaitlin. I do have a few friends who call me Kat [its also my soccer nickname] and I like it enough, but for some reason people have the hardest time with Kaitlin! So, I feel you on that one ;)

Yay! So glad I can finally comment on your blog instead of creeping (I didn't want to possibly-accidentally give away that you were one of my matches for the cookie swap! :P ) I've seen this floating around and finally wrote up one and scheduled it! The questions looked really fun!

Job searching is definitely hard. Don't get discouraged, and I hope you find something awesome soon! :]

Tangled is one of my favorite Disney movies as well! How long did it take you to make that? (The string/pin contraption of your state! ...sorry, I have no idea what it's called, but it looks really cool!)

Haha! I wouldn't have minded if you commented at all and probably wouldn't have figured out you were one of my cookie swap matches. I really did start following your blog a few months ago and was happy to get cookies from someone I knew! I was also thrilled to be able to send cookies to...THE Skinnytaste herself, Gina! I was so nervous to make cookies for her since she is basically a healthy cooking blogger queen...ha!

I look forward to seeing your Mustache survey too! Oh, and I recently FINALLY landed a paid internship at a company in the social media and marketing field and I start tomorrow morning! I'm just happy to have a job of sorts, even if it is an internship. Who knows what it could evolve into down the road? Thanks for your support!

I'm a sucker for the romance song in Tangled where they are sitting in the boat together? Love it. Oh, and the string art contraption didn't take too long at all. The nails don't have to be nailed in all the way, but that is probably what took the longest. That and making sure I carefully nailed them in so as not to hit my fingers....:)
